Default BYU vs. UNLV

First off, wow, how bad is that UNLV team to look so terrible against not-so-good BYU?

It was very nice to see Jake Heaps start to look like a competent quarterback. It was nice to see some receivers catch some balls, including, finally, a long throw.

Defense played well against a very bad offensive group in UNLV.

We don't need a great team, we don't need to do great things. We merely need to just get better every week. Ending the season with some confidence and good play would be great. If we win the next two games, we're going bowling. If we win the next three games, we are guaranteed a winning record.

Imagine if this team finished 8-5 after a bowl win. It would have been unthinkable. As it is, it is almost impossible.

It's getting close to the time we need to start thinking about basketball.

I don't like how quickly basketball season sneaks up on us. We're just getting into the thick of football and I'm just not ready for b-ball. I just can't get into it yet.

Not sure what to make of the UNLV game. Clearly we were improved, but UNLV is so bad that i worry that it's a total misatribution to say we're getting better. I guess we'll see soon enough.

This will be my first basketball season where I have the mtn, so I'll have the opportunity to watch a lot more games.

a good solid win at CSU will signal improvement.

We lost to a bad USU team, so a win against a mediocre CSU team is improvement.

Good take.

I almost fear an 8-5 finish. I think the team will work a lot harder and play a lot hungrier next year if we finish 7-6. Complacency can set in if we go from 2-5 to 8-5. Players start to think every thing is roses, we really were a 10 win team, just had some flukey things happen at the beginning of the season ...

Best way to finish 7-6: beat Utah with another miracle finish, lose bowl game that goes down to the wire.
