Honestly, folks, let's grow up a bit.
Hmmm..... Well, as one who has enjoyed going back and forth with Lingo, let me comment on this. As you sit on that high horse, you may want to ponder the following:

1) From the day Lingo first arrived, he openly stated that his objective over here was to be a thorn in our side and was most definitely "not here to make friends". He recently (last week) re-posted his "mission statement" in case we forgot or were confused. I tried to find a link to his post, but it must have gotten lost in the transition. When someone comes here and openly and consistently stirs things up, he should expect some flak in return.

2) Most of what I have directed to Lingo has been with tongue firmly in cheek. And given Lingo's resiliency, I am pretty sure he has had some fun with it as well.

3) The only time I called Lingo an a-hole and really meant it was in response to the "whore" incident. Lingo has since apologized and I think we should all accept his apology and move on.

4) As soon as Lingo begins to consistently make sincere and friendly posts here (which he is capable of and has done several times), then I think most folks will respond in kind. But as long as his stated mission is to be a thorn in our sides, I reserve the right to tease him back. I will try to be careful with how far I take it. Let me know if you think I have gone too far. Until then, lighten up Francis.

I am in favor of letting anybody foolish enough to post offensive material about another member of the board reap his own rewards. If he wishes to expose himself as a heartless bigot, so be it. If not, let him exercise self restraint and/or edit his statements.
That's a good question... I don't think handing down bans like CB will work. I think this board might be governed more by the ignore feature.

Having read and pondered, I don't know that my opinion changes any. It is not very becoming of us to wait for kindness to be shown to us before we are willing to do the same. Even UTES can do that.

As I said, I don't condone things that have been said on either side of the picket line, but neither do I find any reason to keep the feud running.

I agree with AA here. Lingo is a perfect example. He went over the line (and regardless of what any of us may think about other insults that have been hurled around, some of which I think probably go too far, his was universally condemned) and then he apologized, perhaps prompted by the introspection that was caused by the virulent group reaction. That is a good thing (and he should be commended for doing it, IMO). So let it fly, but try to be adult about it.
