Bronco is so into wanting kids to recruit HIM that he waits until the last minute to offer recruits, instead of identifying them and offering them early.

I hope he keeps this up. It's a good strategy for him.

He's done a great job the last two years. But if he continues to wait for kids to recruit him, that success won't last long and I think you understand that.

BYU is actively trying to identify and offer players as early as possible. That's hardly a case of waiting for kids to recruit BYU. BYU is being plenty pro-active with their recruiting. Last edited by Indy Coug; 02-18-2008 at 07:11 PM. |

Bronco's recruiting is plenty good enough to consitently be on top of the MWC. Scheduling set up to get a shot at the BCS games. Because rankings are based on Wins and losses we can be in the top 25 on a regular basis.
That just might be good enough to keep LES full and the firesides full. It will be interesting to see after a while of that if the fans will start demanding we play better teams or just enjoy being a top dog in the non-BCS realm. My guess is that is good enough for the powers that be. I have a hunch they really don't want to get in there and mix it up with the big boys. Life is much more comfortable dominating the MWC. Trying to be the best makes you take some risks. I don't think the atmosphere is one that allows taking some risks. I hope I am wrong and I could be. There might be those that recognize the money and prestige the school could receive by taking the steps to get in there with the big boys. |

He may have a shorter leash as far as letting kids milk him than many coaches, but he's certainly actively pursuing them. |
