Pretty crazy that there is one point in the country through which all electricity for that country flows. Doesn't seem like a very well-planned system to me.

Wow, like driving in South America isn't scary enough. I can't imagine the chaos without...well actually now that I think about it they treat stoplights as more of a suggestion than a mandate there anyway. So maybe it wouldn't be too bad.

while I was there. Bad times. We were ordered to head home every night, once it was dark. Bad things happened. Lots of roaming gangs, etc.

Once while in that area (ghetto on the outskirts of the city) I turned a corner only to see a man bashing in the head of another with a large brick. The one being beaten was already on the ground KO'd. All of this happened in front of the local brothel. The EQP with who I was on 'splits' pulled out his sling shot (no joke) and asked, "Do you want to go around [the block]." I nodded in the affirmative. But I digress.
