TV contract economics
Isn't the MWC deal with CSTV something like $7M?
It seems crazy that we can't even watch a football game where there is a demand to watch it and even pay for it. How many MWC fans would be willing to pay $10 for a season of MWC football and basketball games? You take a 1M of those * $10 = $10M, $3M easily covers your costs and there's your $7M. How hard is this? And they want to put it on some Dish network package and make us pay up to $20 more per month for it? The stupid MWC deal is going to end up taking a lot of money from their fans and only returning a portion of it after it runs through all the middle layers. AND a lot of fans won't be able to see their team which will hurt the MWC more in the long run. I already know one person who didn't renew his season tickets because he's so mad about the MTN situation and decided he's either a fan all the way watching every game or he's not a fan at all. Not the way I would handle it but some will. |

This blog reported the was 7 year $77 mil.
http://www.fanblogs.com/mountain_west/002475.php On another note, just because we have had a deal in place for over 2 years doesn't mean they should rush to figure out where people can watch the games. I mean these things take time, you can't just figure it out in 2 years. |
