Mr. Langi is also adept at occasional street debates when some contend that Mormonism has racist aspects. He just grins and looks down at his dark brown arms, in a theatrical gesture that seems to say, “I’m not exactly an albino.”
LOL.

A surprisingly positive NY Times article about the church. Who knew.

Not a bad article, except for the fact that the Haka is NOT Tongan. It is Maori and has been co-opted by the Tongans and others. A minor point, I agree, but it is completely inaccurate.

Plus, the article kept calling the Elders, "Mr." There will be hell to pay.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

Yeah - I've never seen anything especially onerous in the Times. When we were building the temple in Manhattan (that was when I lived there) they had some very good coverage.

Now that the Mormon is out, you can afford to be nice.

Did they have not-so-nice-to-Romney pieces? I honestly have about as much interest in politics as I do microbial cultures of Lingo's underarm sweat. This makes me unique among lawyers, I think, but it also means that I may miss some things.

I guess I only read the Times for the sexy pictures.

Wrong. The BYU football team invented the Haka.
