I don't think it is possible to place a higher value on either prosecutors or defense attorneys. They both play an integral role in our system. Without one or the other, the system would be a disaster. There are bad prosecutors and there are bad defense attorneys, but there is plenty of good outside of those extremes. I admire both camps generally for performing a work that I would be awful at. As a prosecutor, I would be too compassionate. As a defense attorney, I would be sickened at the possibility of doing my work so well that a guilty person could walk free.

Overall, the system works quite well, despite its flaws.

I don't have a problem with most judges either. Sure, many get arrogant and obnoxious, but overall, I think they do quite well too (focusing on the large picture rather than the minutiae).
