No. An adult built it and the kid was right there with him observing him as he lit what was in effect a pipe bomb.

Actually, the kid was just riding his bike on the other side of the street when it happened. The funk's live near there and posted about it when it happened.

This is correct. His uncle is one of my employees. In fact he was there when it happened. Bridger was just riding by. My employee got to hold his nephews guts inside his body until the paramedics arrived.

As far as Mike's point. My company is/has donated thousands of dollars to Bridger and this is how the majority of it should be taken care of. I have no problem if Bridger's family receives govt. help as well.

Side note. Bridger's birth father is a prick and is setting up donations that come straight to the father(drug addict). Bridger has not and will not see a dime of it. If you donate make sure to do so through the mom's side.

you're not kidding. The guy had nothing to do with Bridger, barely evens knows him. Bridger gets hurt and now he is trying to get full custody of him, as somehow he thinks this will be his meal ticket for life. Lowlife asshole scumbag.

BTW the employee is not only an employee but a good friend and my cycling partner that is going to the Desperado Dual with me.

In this case, IMO, I don't understand why Medicaid wouldn't cover it. But the mom has to understand that the money she is fund raising could count as assets and will have to be recorded as hers.

what does blame have to do with whether the govt. should fund it?

How old is he? 11yo? If a kid tried to make a homemade firework and got hurt, the govt. should step in and say "while you would otherwise qualify for medicaid, because you did something stupid, we are not paying a nickle."

Really, whether the govt. pays for it or not, YOU are still paying for his care. In either the form of higher taxes, or higher insurance premiums as hospitals charge more for insured patients to cover the difference.

I guess I didn't understand why the whole issue of Medicaid coverage was being brought up in the first place then (a result of this particular incident), because the boy will likely need continual medical care that is extremely expensive? There are plenty of things Medicaid covers that are EXTREMELY expensive all the time? Why this particular boys injury coverage by Medicaid is up for debate is escaping me.

because some people here don't think that medicaid should exist. Medicaid coverage is based on financial resources.
