Ironically, working out regularly gives one more energy, not less. I am fortunate that my wife understands this.

RC the answer is so obvious I can't beleive you haven't realized it. One word:

Tandem.

For those cretins whose minds just wandered I mean tandem bicycles. They are perfect for you and your wife. you can ride as hard as you want and she can ride as hard or not hard as she wants and you two are together the whole time. I am telling you, you should try it.

A simpler concept, "girl friend." Get one that likes to exercise with you and let your wife do what she wants. You both can be happy.

I guarantee a girlfriend while you are married will not be simpler than a tandem. It will also not be cheaper.

My wife and I were in a reverse position and then it just clicked one day for me (after she stopped trying to push me). Give it time.

Becuase of kids, I go to the gym at 4:00 am so she can go after I get back. It works out great.

We've only been married six years and have tried working out together off and on beginning when we were dating. It's never lasted more than about two weeks unfortunately; primarily due to motivation issues (she's got no motivation). My wife's problem is that she has a crazy metabolism and prefers healthy foods over junk food anyway. The result is that she stays very skinny without exercising and thus doesn't feel much motivation to go through the discomfort of working out. We love to hike/backpack, snowshoe, climb, etc. together, though, so it drives me crazy when she doesn't work out because then she is unable to perform when we do our outdoor activities. When she does get into shape, she's my favorite hiking/climbing partner.
