The funny thing about it is that I really didn't mean anything by the comment wondering if he was a doctor. I thought I had picked up somewhere that he was a doctor, but then after reading his comments, I thought--probably not.

I'm guessing he's a psychiatrist, as his lithium example actually made sense. This would also explain the apparent disconnect with hospital medicine (and medical culture, and thinking ER docs are the bigger assholes, etc, etc) That's not meant as a knock on Mike. I wouldn't expect psychiatrists to be up on these things--not part of their job.

However, he seems to have taken offense at what was a sincere question. I WOULD expect a psychiatrist to have a little thicker skin.
