Homeowner "rescue" bill
So, someone like me, who bought a modest size home three years ago (much less than what I "qualified" for) has to subsidize the dbags who leveraged themselves to the hilt, refi'd over and over to buy cars and toys but now still get to keep their homes? I feel like such a chump. My last ounce of respect I had for Bush, who had threated a veto, is gone.
Disgusting. http://www.sltrib.com/ci_10011364

Get over it.
My tax dollars are subsidizing this stupid war, which is costing way more than the housing crisis.

I agree that Bush will go down as one of the worst ever, but I can't say that the country would have been better off or worse with Gore as President. I'm not defending Bush's decisions, but had 9/11 not happened, most all of his horrendous policy decisions would not have been made.

The more details I heard about this bill, the less bad it sounded actually.
Banks will have to take a big hit to take advantage of the program, so it's not even sure how many are going to take advantage of it. Banks will have to finance at 90% of the current value. THe ones that get this deal will be getting an awesome deal, however. |

It's just Keynsian economics. If the housing market is on its ass we can't possibly have a good economy. This is part of trying to bring about a recovery. I'm not saying I agree with the approach, but there are lots of believers in both parties. It's like the rebate. There's no point in getting all self-righeous about how you don't take hand outs because it's just economic policy. Certianly government does a lot more stupid and wasteful things with our money, like any Senator's pet pork barrel. Besides if you get a mortgage deduction you do take government hand outs.
