Default Trans Texas Corridor

What do you Lone Star staters think of this project?

http://www.fwweekly.com/content.asp?article=4526

"The list of objections to the TTC is long enough to draw all kinds of groups to oppose it. The huge costs, the loss of immense tracts of agricultural land and major problems caused for farmers and ranchers, the costs and controversy associated with making currently free highways into toll roads, the displacement of thousands of people, privatization of state infrastructure, and the governor’s refusal to release key documents about the initial TTC contract — all have combined to produce a groundswell of grassroots opposition."

Default I was fooled

I thought I-35 was the trans-Texas corridor, twister highway, and NAFTA freeway all in one.

The TTC would parallel I-35 and incorporate I-35 in places. The article said I-35 from Laredo to San Antonio will be part of the TTC. A previously paid-for government owned road would become a toll road.

If I remember correctly, all the candidates for governor strongly opposed the TTC, except for Perry. I didn't know much about it before skimming that article just now, but items like the no-compete clause sound very fishy to me.

You might want to check Perry's donor list for Cintra-Zachry names.
