I have a mild interest in Satanic abduction because there are many psychiatric patients who claim this. They are most often female, and usually carry a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder or dissociative identity disorder (multiple personality disorder, which is a controversial diagnosis). |

I had a relative who claimed to have recovered a memory (while in therapy with a real quack) of her father being in a satanic cult and the cult ritualistically sexually abusing her. She was convinced for years. There was absolutely no objective evidence that it was true. After a few years, and a better therapist, she decided it wasn't true. True to what Mike said, she may well be borderline.

Lindsay: Well, did it work for those people? Tobias: No, it never does. I mean, these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but...but it might work for us. |
