Romney campaign, who else has the incentive?

Meanwhile, if they haven't dug any dirt on Romney, there probably isn't any.

Everyone who thinks they have a chance has an incentive--most likely Perry, Cain, and Romney.

Hell, maybe even Obama. As Gingrich, despite his faults, is not one of the BSC candidates.

I think the Romney campaign is the least likely to have initiated this attack. Of the existing candidates he is the least threatened by a Gingrich resurgence; and in fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Gingrich considered seriously for a Romney VP.

Yes, I could also see a Romney/Gingrich ticket happening. I would love to see a Gingrich vs. Biden debate.

Gingrich has been very careful not to step on the toes of anyone. One gets the sense he has been running for VP from the beginning.

Indeed.

I don't disagree, but it's not my biggest complaint with Gingrich. (I have others.)

Newt's insider dealings will be the political death of him.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/68514.html

He was a "strategic advisor", i.e. he was not a registered lobbyist, he was the guy who advises the registered lobbyists.

I'm not saying that is a terrible thing. I'm just saying that you can't lie about it and get a free pass.

Abramoff on Gingrich:

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1111/68547.html

Quote:
"Because he is doing, and engaging in the exact kind of corruption that America disdains. The very things that anger the Tea Party movement and the Occupy Wall Street movement and everybody who is not in a movement and watches washington and says why are these guys getting all this money, why do they all become so rich, why do they have these advantages? Unfortunately Newt seems to play right into it."
