Default How do you spot an NFL player, playing college?

I suppose it's based on the demonstration of speed, size and strength against other college players, and playmaking abilities.

In Austin Collie, he routinely performed when the others did not. And scouts did not project him to be special.

By that measure, nobody on the BYU team stands out.

Anybody in the pipeline, or are we several years away from that prospect, if ever?

For a white boy on a non-BCS team, 4th round is not bad at all.

Colts felt that Collie had a skill-set and mentality that fit their scheme. Good route runner, strong, smart, enough speed to find spots. Put Collie on the Cowboys, and he might not have made the team (despite the Cowboys receivers sucking big-time).

NFL involves a good deal of luck. Collie had a good dose of it and landed on a team with strong passing offense, good QB, good OL, and good coach. he could have gone to a bunch of other teams and spent his career on the bench.

But I guess when you're working hard and living right, "Miracles Happen"
