I would guess this would leave Leipheimer as the number 1 rider. Nine in a row for an American?

Honestly, I don't think Levi has it in him. He might podium, especially with Dsico riding for him alone, but it seems like he always one or two days wherre he just doesn't have it. It is possible that his inconsistency is due to being clean and as the drug issues tighten around other riders we may see more such inconsistencies, but all other things being equal, I am just not sure he can do it.

I wouldn't pick him, as as the inhuman creekmonster points out, Levi seems to have one or two really stinker days.

I agree with creek. I've cheered for Levi for several years and he has continued to disappoint me. He is a likely podium finisher this year, as he has been riding very well this spring. I just don't see him winning the whole thing. Lance said in that article that Levi "might" be the new captain of the team. If not him, then who? They are a solid supporting team, but he is really as close as they will be able to come to being a GC contender.

He got lucky in Georgia. Plus, he's got no experience in a grand tour. He'd be cooked by the second week.

He did relatively well last year in the Vuelta.

I think Popovych was the young rider they were looking to take over.

But he failed last year in both the Giro and Tour, so I don't think they're looking exactly to him.

It'll be Levi and Janesz.

Whatever happened to Tom Danielson? The 135 pound guy that Lance declared the next Lance.
