Default My LDS region scheduled a three-day encampment

That is fine and dandy. It starts on a Thurs. during spring break and goes thru Sat.

Here's my issue: I don't much feel like taking a day or two's vacation for it. This summer I'll have taken 3 weeks off for scouting in 3 years (summer camp), and I only get 3 weeks per year.

Am I being too selfish?

I'm thinking about telling the parents to step up to the plate, letting them know that I'll meet up with them Friday night after work.

No. Your wife and kids deserve more than 2/3rds of your time off.

Mitt would suggest that you ask the parents to pony up. I've already signed up for half a week at summer camp this year. The SM said he can't get time off.

Remember, always look to Mitt.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

I think that's perfectly appropriate.
