Now that All Hallows Eve is upon us, time to bust out the churro gun and start practicing. This year will be extra special because Halloween is on a Friday night, so we can stay up late eating churros and hot chocolate until the wee hours. My family is getting together at my brother's house and all the cousins are going trick or treating in his neighborhood. Should be a blast.

Last year we went as Devo to the ward trunk or treat. This year, the kids were old enough to choose their own getup. We have a Peter Pan (with small sword), Little Mermaid, and Curious George. My daughter wanted to go as George. She asked if I would be the Man with the Yellow Hat. I couldn't say no, so I am going as the Man with the Yellow Hat. Next week we have trick or treat night at Diz on Wed, ward trunk or treat on Thurs, and Halloween on Fri. Should be a busy week.

Anyone else dressing up with their chilluns? What are your kids wearing?

What are your churro recipes? I love churros. Do you buy the frozen kind and just bake?

One boy will be Thomas the Tank Engine; the other James. I'm Sir Topham Hatt, and unrelatedly, my wife will be a witch.

First, I will totally ignore your offensive suggestion that I buy frozen churros.

My family has a tradition of making churros and chocolate, as well as dipping sauce, for Halloween. I posted the recipe here online last last year. You need to have a churro gun, so start looking now. Besides that, the ingredients are pretty basic. Always a big hit. Takes time to figure out how to make them, though.

We also have a tradition of making homemade pizza on Christmas eve. Recipe for that to follow....

My daughter decided she wanted to be Cinderalla. She has not taken her slippers off since we bought them.

My 3 year old will be Dorothy... my 1 year old will be a flying monkey. My wife will be the wicked witch and I will be the scarecrow.

that churro gun looks fine. The main thing is to not try to sneak by with a cake frosting tip......the star on a cake froster is so tiny, your churros will be even more embarrased than George Costanza after he got out of the pool.

If you buy a dedicated churro gun, the star tip will be large enough to produce nice, Magnum sized churros.

we bought one at williams sonoma for around the same price. You can also go to latin supermercados and find them there. Or you can go to the parking lot at Home Depot and pay an illegal alien to go to a latin supermercado and buy one for you.
