Default The good coach/great coach debate on the PC thread

has made me rethink my stance on Bronco. I think he's on the cusp of being a great coach; I've watched from afar as he's restored pride back to BYU and reenergized the fan base. Since Tressel is the benchmark, what does Bronco need to accomplish to reach that status.

back into a couple of NC games and then lose by a wide margin.

Bronco needs to start winning games against good BCS teams.

He also needs to get some recognition on national TV (if no one knows you are a good coach, then you are not a good coach).

It would seem Bronco needs to start recruiting more effectively, as well. RC is correct in that part of being a good coach/great coach is the abilty to harvest talent.

Another thing: develop talent. He gets nice players. Does he turn a few of them into nice NFL players? Or even decent ones?

Also, I agree with mike. it is awesome to go 11-2 every season, but not when the 2 losses every season are against the BCS schools. We need to beat them more consistently.

UW and FUCLA are on the menu for the Fall. I think that is a nice way to start.

I dont think that Bronco has to win or play for a NC to be great, simply because the system is not set up for him to really do that, so it would be an unfair benchmark.

Also he needs to have at least one more season where the teams doesnt give up 50 points in a loss.

Win a non-conference game on the road.
