Default The TOC yesterday...

Leiphimer said it was one of the three or four worst days he has ever spent on a bike. Cold, rain and a head wind can really ruin a good day.

That was my ride today. We had scheduled a nice seventy mile rolling ride. So at 4:45 AM, I get a text from riding buddy, "Hey Arch, it's too cold and windy, so I'm doing the trainer ride today."

Me: "Ok."

I'm too dumb to change plans so I head out. In protected zone, what wind.

Out of protected zone, "wow." I'm buffeted by rain and wind and a seventy mile ride became a wimpy 50 miler. I'm still tired after the wind. Wind, wind, go away.

I'm buried in four feet of snow and you're doing 50 mile days. I'm screwed.

Yeah but trainer workouts are better than road workouts. You'll kick my ass. I'm only averaging 150 a week. Next month need to get it up to 200 though to keep up with you. I passed 2500 miles since the accident but haven't done a single bike interval. You've done nothing but intervals. I'm screwed.

Since August, I have spent 5 minutes on the trainer.

I'm not screwed. I have natural talent.

You will not be able to catch me during the first 1km. After that, it will be the other way around.

I think this makes what that Rollin kid all the more impressive. What did he do, 20-30 miles solo with 2 groups in pursuit, into a headwind? Gutsy performance.

As far as my ride yesterday, it consisted of my first bonified spin class at the local club. It was a 45 minutes class and it kicked my butt. My legs are still wiped out.
