My parents are from rural communities. That's as close to rural as I've ever lived.

Marsupial grew up in a rural community -- town of less than 3,000 pretty close to a town of 15,000 (estimates). We were just there visiting after going about 5 years without a visit and it was surprising how different it felt to be in small town America. I'm not sure about their local debates, but I'd rather skip them all together and be in the city.

My dad grew up in Tooele back when it was a tiny hick town. When I was a kid we would visit and it was mostly farming. Now the family farm is an Albertsons.

Tobias: No, it never does. I mean, these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but...but it might work for us.

I want to own a home in a rural setting. Most likely Star Valley Wyoming.

It's rural , but it's also expensive.

Tooele... my great great great grandpa settled there after coming over from France in the 1850's. The house he built is still lived in... we use it for family reunions and stuff. Pretty cool place.

I've never been able to say anything good about Toole. I just don't see why anybody would want to live out there.

JoLi looks a lot like a former roommate at BYU, from Toeloe. They have the exact same nose. I should post a comparison.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's a relation there, though I don't have any close family in Tooele.

my wife grew up in Genola. Her family has about 50 acres out there right now, at one point had thousands.

We are actually going ot the Genola town celebration on saturday they usually get about 200 people which is the whole town.

Here nearest neighbor was a 1/2 mile down the road, i believe they even still have 1 ward to this day, although they do have a chapel which is about 80 years old.

A few days ago some developer tried to get a 250 unit subdivision passed, the city council tried to sneak it through and the towns people found out and freaked. They went to the council meeting and tried to uproot all of hte city council members. Doesnt look the subdivision is happening now.

Also you still have to have at least 2 acres to build a home out there.
