I love playing games. Card games, board games, etc.
But I have no one to play with. Wife isn't really a game player. |

When in I was in the Pacific isles, they had their own version of checkers.
I don't remember the exact rules. But a king could jump an unlimited number of spaces to get multiple kills. It made the game a lot more complex. |

SIRS plays chess. Her dad was a fairly serious hobby player who grew up in Denmark.
My son who turns five tomorrow is learning how to play. SIRS has half joked that we should get matching shirts and go to tournaments together.

The guy in my ward, it's a parent/kid tournament, and it's the combination of the parent/kid that wins. I don't know exactly how it is scored, but the kids plays kids, and the adults play adults.

I hope the guy in your ward isn't the stereotypical tyrant chess parent.

I googled "Chess and Go" tournament and "Chess and Go Club." There are a few combination events and clubs.

When I was a sophomore in high school, I played the national kindergarten champ. The game was close until the mid-end game, but I eventually lost. I enjoy playing chess a lot, but don't have any good people to play the occasional game with.
