IMO, we tolerate it because the politicians is this country are candy asses. They're delusional enough to believe that diplomacy will work with a nut case like Amadimejan (or however it's spelled).

Far too much time and money has been spent in Iraq to convince the politicians a most of the country that Iran is the bigger threat.
