Another example, the super-Walmart not far from me is overwhelmingly black and hispanic among both customers and employees. I suggested to one of my 16 yr old scouts that he get a job, and maybe he should apply there. "Those are jobs for blacks and Mexicans," he says, apparently oblivious to his 17yr old Mexican-American friend sitting next to him.

Voluntary racial segregation is an interesting thing. And I see it all the time.

There is a Super Wal-Mart minutes from our house. That's where we do most of our grocery shopping. Most of the people who shop there are black. I have talked to several neighbors who don't go to that store and prefer the one farther away in the next town because it is "nicer." It is in an uppity suburb that doesn't allow multi-family housing and requires that single family dwellings are at least 1600 square feet. This Wal-Mart is newer, mostly patroned by whites, but otherwise no different than the one down the road or any other Wal-Mart I've been in.

So this was your neighborhood wave pool? Is it located in a predominantly black and hispanic area? Or a white area and the blacks and hispanics come from outside?

No doubt we self segregate. I happens all ways. Does anyone know of anyone today telling their kids not to swim with blacks because they may get a disease?

Our Walmart sucks big time. Kinda dirty and never enough checkers. And no self check-out line.

By the way I think you guys are wrong about Walmsrt being a racial thing. I have a super Walmart by me as well and it is equal parts blacks, mexicans and poor rural whites. The people with more money shop at Safeway across town and pay a little more. This is a economic strata thing, if anything.
