New economic indicator?
"Plastic surgeons report people are getting antsy about spending big bucks for bigger breasts or a nose job. The Wall Street Journal reported that the slowdown was a hot topic at a recent meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in Baltimore. Pittsburgh plastic surgeon Dr. J. Peter Rubin said the mortgage credit crisis is making people think twice." http://www.10news.com/health/1482537...p=irresistible Question: Is this a lagging or leading indicator? And in a related note: Here is a study showing the positive psychological effects of breast augmentation: "Along with having a very positive body image, the group reported decreased self-consciousness (86 percent) and heightened self-confidence (88 percent); in addition, 95 percent said they felt better about themselves after surgery." http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/en...484&query_hl=2 Hat tip: http://www.economist.com |
