Default Favorite Less-Sung Hymns

Staying on the topic of hymns, a couple of people have mentioned that we tend to stick with the same ones. Do you have any favorite hymns that are rarely or never sung?

Two that I can think of off the top of my head are Come, O Thou King of Kings and Guide Us, O Thou Great Jehovah.

I have sung these occasionally in Sacrament meeting, but far less than once a year (as opposed to some that we seem to sing monthly).

We sang "If we could hie to Kolob" quite a bit on my mission.

I think we all thought it was subversive so that's why we liked it.

There's one called "O Wahre die Wahrheit", which I think is something like, Guard the Truth.

Sang this in priesthood session with a Ricks men's choir back in the day. Great song.

Oh Ye Mountains High

It's a pioneer-mountain-persecution song.

You haughty people, we'll steal your treasure and wish you death!

Good choice - there are hymns for diverse audiences. The mullahs revel in Be Thou Humble - Else I'll Get You. I particularly enjoy the hymns written specifically for female and male voices - Ye Elders of Israel - Grow Up for a Change comes to mind.

Not surprisingly, I am of the opinion that this and other songs like it should be exorcised from the hymnal. Sing it as a choir number, etc. in Utah. But it makes no sense elsewhere.

But then I'm an anti-pioneer so no big surprise, right?

I enjoy hearing choirs perform some of the hymns deleted from the current hymnal. Oh Home Beloved is simple yet powerful.
