Comparing me to CatBlue? Weak.

I am not rushing to your aid. I wanted to make a comment about the World Series but I needed to come up with an intro that made sense in the conext of this thread. The bulk of my argument is in the final sentence of my post. The rest is just dicta.

Sheesh...she is making a valid point....Utah has an extremely high population percentage of active LDS members. These members pay tithing. Paying tithing is voluntary in the sense that it is up to each of us to pay, but not truly voluntary because being a full tithe payer is required to attend the temple and other things that we are taught are desireable while here on Earth. By definition, is anything in this life truly compulsory? We don't even have to eat or breathe if we don't want to.

What is the big deal? What am I missing when it becomes offensive to suggest that part of tithing culture is a bit compulsory? There is a reason some jokingly refer to it as "fire insurance."

I wonder what percentage of Utah charity is to the Church, as opposed to other charities.

I dont see anything wrong with donating to any charity, including the Church. But I am also not offended by Barbara's suggestion, either.

What truly offends me was this lousy World Series between two teams that nobody cared about. What a waste.
There is a sense of compulsion of course, and I get her drift, but it certainly wouldn't rise to the level of legal compulsion. And she's also trying to be funny.

I'm glad that stupid sport is done. Good riddance.

Good. Glad to hear it.

I didn't realize the World Series had been played. Baseball's for losers.

Now that's funny. Cali the big-gov't liberal doesn't want his Godly offering tainted by the stain of a tax deduction. Heh.

Hugh Hewitt made an interesting point on his show today:

How is it that the media doesn't discover Obama's illegal, indigent aunt until just this weekend, while it took them all of 2.3 seconds to uncover Palin's daughter's pregnancy, and every intimate detail of her sister's messy divorce?

That is so interesting! The "media treats obama favorably" argument is one that has not been hashed out enough, imo.

What was Hewitt's conclusion?
