Default Marquis Wilson will not play in 2008

I had heard this several weeks ago, but it is finally being reported in the papers that Wilson has been essentially suspended for the entire 2008 season. He can redshirt or transfer, and will likely redshirt and play with the scout team this year.

Forgive me for not being to familiar with Utah's team, but how big a deal is this? Where does he rank among Utah's WRs? Is there someone in the wings who can fill in easily?

He has made a handful (literally 4 or 5) big plays in his tenure at Utah. The big deal about him was that he got a DUI last spring and played all of last fall (his trial is still pending). Whit has been widely criticized for not lowering the hammer on Wilson, giving him chance after chance. Well, now he's gone for the 2008 season.

Utah has two JC guys coming in that will help and some younger talented WRs that will get the time.

It isn't a huge loss as it is the removal of a controversy that has hung around for over a year now.

That's funny. He said he had only one drink. Then he later admitted that the one drink meant one drink at the beer bong.

This is good news, as Wilson is a cancer.

If he's ever going to turn things around, this year off is his chance.

I can agree with this. I hope the kid can turn things around, but I don't know if I like the idea of him ever playing again. He's had his shot and decided that he didn't want to be a decent kid.

Yeah, I can see that perspective, and I usually find myself in that boat as well. I guess I just see how Marty Johnson turned things around with some serious odds going against him. I figure if he can do it, anyone can.

Johnson is a good example of a kid who turned it around and I was wrong about him. I was one who wanted him gone.

If Wilson can prove me wrong, I'll happily recant.
