I've done what I call the lower loop four times and the upper loop once. For the lower loop I start at West Yellowstone and go into Madison, Old Faithful, West Thumb, Fishing Bridge, Canyon, Norris back to Madison and finish back at West. You cross over the continental divide twice from Old Faithful to West Thumb so their is quite a bit of climbing. The 14 miles from Norris to Madison is my favorite stretch of road for biking. Mostly downhill along the river with numerous waterfalls along the way. It's about 125 miles total.

The upper loop is longer and much tougher. It goes West, Madison, Norris, Mammoth, Tower, Canyon, Norris and back to West. The climb from Tower to Canyon is absolute brutal. This loop is less traveled but very tough. It's about 135 miles.

Let me know if you want to do it this summer because I would love to join you. Also you can't bike all the way around the lake.

Thanks for the info. We may try it this year. I'll let you know, although I ma not sure you would want to ride with the triple train, which is not an express.
