Because what he succintly summarized was why BOWLS are bad for college football and have been for decades--and you don't agree with that.
The BCS is what has rendered college football a mess. Only their games matter now. Before the BCS any team could be national champion despite what bowl game they played in. How is that bad?

You are a BCS guy. That's fine. I'm not.

We'll just have to agree to disagree about this.

Jay is hardly a BCS guy but he does believe it is better than what we had. I agree. The BCS sucks. The bowls before the BCS sucked more.

I actually don't think this is true. If there's only one non-BCS guarantee (I'm not convinced...see my other thread), then BSU is in sort of a no-man's land. Obviously, if Utah wins out, they get it. If BYU wins out, with a road victory over Utah, I see them jumping BSU in the computer polls (with the higher SOS from games against AFA and Utah) and possibly the human polls (which they don't even have to do). It'd be close.

Even the BCS bowls don't matter. There is only one game that matters and it is the National Championship game. It really doesn't matter if you make a BCS game. Seriously, do you remember the winner of the Orange bowl from last year? I couldn't even tell you who played in it.

It matters to your budget and your recruiting.

Kansas v. Va Tech, no?

But the above perfectly expresses my attitude toward the non-championship BCS games. OTOH, I can understand where some programs would benefit from the exposure and especially from the "BCS buster label."
