Someone asked why Vranes didn't go to BYU. BYU never had a chance at him. Judkins was a star on Utah's team and Vranes was his first cousin, and they were close. Vranes was pie in the sky for BYU even though BYU fans thought otherwise. Judkins was never happy about the fact that BYU didn't recruit him. I knew about the situation then as I was the Ute basketball manager and was friends with Judkins.
By the way, there's only one thing that would turn Ute fans off on Jensen--if he took a job at BYU to feed his family. Then they'd hate him. Otherwise, even if he robbed a bank I'm sure they'd retain this unrealistic crazy love for him.

I remember Potter recruiting a kid from my school and then Arnold not giving him the time of day. He was OK (but no where near Judkins ability) and ended up at Utah State. I hope "manager" meant something different in college than what it meant in high school.

Manager in DI is highly coveted and held in awe, and requires a great deal of panache and intelligence.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this issue, I'm afraid.

No, I concede that you weren't really at risk of being beaten up.

Truly Jerry Pimm, Jeff Judkins, Buster Matheney, Jeff Jonas, Earl Williams, Greg Deane, Michael Grey, Coby Leavitt, Gerry Gimelstaub, Jim Marsh were some of the finest people I ever knew. They had a great year, league title clinching in the Marriott Center, Seet 16, win at Kentuckt and at home against one of Tark's great Final Four teams. Yes, they were fine players but mostly they won because they were such excellent people.
