I suppose you think just saying so, makes it so.

Given that California is a solid blue state, I would say it appears that non-"ultra conservatives" are also choosing to vote yes.

And yes, it surprised me as well.

I actually posted a rebuttal of the church's press release.

Remember, I upset LA Ute?

And remember, none of you apologists could come up with anything?

We are reaching the point, where apologia from the official press at the church is making FAIR members blush.

California is dominated by poor and working class Hispanics. They are not wine and cheese democrats. They are Catholics, or lapsed Catholics most of them.

If Prop 8 goes through, it will be due to these Hispanics.

I probably didn't read it, since I don't have that strong feelings about Prop 8.

But I have read the church's release, and it doesn't strike me as bankrupt. I'm gonna guess your "rebuttal" was bunk.

Thanks Mr. I claim you didn't read anything, and then admit that I don't read anything. You're practically SU.

Facilities - Facilities cost money when not in use too. The church doesn't disconnect from the power grid when nobody is there.

Strong arming members - link? Perhaps your definition of strong arming is a bit more weak than mine. I doubt anyone has been extorted or threatened physical harm by the church if they don't participate.

Claimed imprimatur with God - I agree.

This is the LDS church in 2008. Putting money into this campaign to get ads like that on the air.
The ad I've seen running, which starts and ends with a Gavin Newsome clip, features a guy from my ward, Richard Peterson - he's a professor at some local law school. I'm pretty sure the church (or at least the leadership) had a lot to do with that ad.

What a weird, mucked-up sentence.

I have news for your MIL. Three of my son's friends in his 2nd grade class have gay parents. The quarterback on his pee wee football team has two mommies. Reading a story in school isn't going to shape his opinion of gay marriage or families with gay parents. His interaction everyday with normal kids who have gay parents is what is shaping his opinion. Now when he sees that some of his friends have 2 mommies or 2 daddies he shrugs his shoulders and says "big deal".

Families with gay parents are not going away and are going to be more and more common. Reading a story in school is nothing. Once again the prop 8 campaign resorts to fear-mongering.
