Default So I wasn't last

but close.

Ah well, it was fun.

The rest of you should try one of your local races.

Did I ever mention the time I came in behind a grandma, a twelve-year-old, and a one-legged-man?

(I'm not making this up.)

That sounds like a Monty Python skit.

I won't say anything more, as I've never raced. I'm particular about athletic competitions - if I don't think I have a good chance to win, I don't want to participate.

Yes, I'm a sore loser.

I can almost compete with this. I once ran a 10k and was passed at the finish lione by a nearly naked grandpa wearing only (nad I mena ONLY) a pink tutu. This came after having been soundly beaten by a guy in an alligator suit.

Wow! Must have been Halloween or the gay pride parade.

Incidentally, you didn't mention what YOU were wearing!

I was wearing traditional running gear. Really.

It was actually the Bay to Breakers run here in San Francisco. Lots of bizarre costumes and outfits and lack of same, but a lot of fun.

Give yourself some credit here Creekster . It was a 12K not a 10K (I believe).

So we were running 1000s this morning and I almost go beat by a couple of cute gals.

six minute pace wasn't so fast once upon a time, now 6:15 is fast enough to make it hurt.

Thank God you pulled it out in the end. What kind of a world would it be if we let the women outrace the men?!

No seriously, my friend Sally, her favorite thing to do (when biking) is to beat the guys up the hills, then make a show of politely waiting for them at the top. She's amazing.

Well there are two or three in town who can still beat me up the hills, but one is a professional with VW, and the other two are aspiring pros, so I don't feel too bad, even for an old guy. So yes, women beat the crap out of me. Thanks for crushing my ego. BTW, our best gal in town crushes me, even though she ran college. She runs a 2:50 marathon and a 1:18 half. Unless I got nice a skinny, those times are now unapproachable by me. She's about four inches taller than her hubby is an aspiring cyclist.

I was even in the pool when a couple of college swimmer girls beat me. Completely demoralizing. But the chicks still don't beat me down the ski hill.
