Default As unlikely a Big 12 invite is....

...and despite the Big 12 teetering and dysfunctional, if an invite comes to BYU AND an invite is on the table with the Pac 10--BYU should go Big 12.

Much better exposure, better conference, schools that hate Mormons, but not because Mormons are politically conservative.

Big XII is a better fit for BYU.

Pac 12 is better than MWC in terms of money and exposure, but it is a bad fit for BYU.

CU will regret moving down to the Pac 12.

With the way Texas (the school and the politicians) has demonstrated its control of the Big 12, I am starting to rethink how good a Big 12 invite would be. If it comes, I still say take it, but it has lost a lot of luster. Taking the invite would be just for positioning. To get it on our resume so we are in a better spot for future opportunities.

what better future opportunity?

You think the Big East is going to invite BYU? SEC? ACC? Big 10?

Get real.

If/When the 4 16 team mega conferences come to be reality, and rather than expansion, teams are breaking away from the NCAA, so leaving dead weights who have gotten a free ride for years (Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Washington State, etc) is not such a big deal.

As pointed out, BYU could accept partial membership and still benefit. The money disparity is so great.

All these years I've been trying to help you (God knows I've tried to help BYU), you haven't been listening. As I've told you a thousand times, hell will freeze over before the Pac invites BYU. It won't happen in a million years. Also, I guarantee that once Utah was in the Pac 10's sights, the Big 12 had no chance at Utah.

Not only is the Pac a more stable, egalitarian conference, it's also got all the top universities in the west (I guess except Cal Tech). California has 50% more population than Texas. There is nothing like the magnetism and power of the West coast.

if you call bankruptcy "stable". If you call the implosion in the UC system "stable." Across the board paycuts. Tuition increases. New medical school delayed.
