Default Prop 8 reaction morphs into persecution

It's fascinating to see how the backlash against LDS involvement in Prop 8 has become interpreted as anti-LDS persecution.

In Utah we have the issue of LDS ward houses getting windows shot at with a BB or pellet gun, which I suspect is the work of teenage idiots. Some folks are attributing the attacks to opposition to LDS moral integrity on Prop 8, a likely extension being something along the lines of Satan lashing out at Mormons in the pre-Apocalypse.

Craziness.

we had a large rock thrown through a glass door in my stake center several years back. Presumably had nothing to do with Prop 8.

Default Not a laughing matter

Hey, is there any subject not made light of on this board?

I too think the church windows being shot out in Utah is the work of teenage idiots. But there is some very serious stuff being done in California right now to people who gave as little as $100 in support of Prop 8. It ain't funny, Mike.

I think it is weird how people are now tossing around the term "persecution."

ask matthew shepard how he feels about the persecution of those who had their acura spray painted.

wait...you can't ask him anymore.

That's a fair point; however, are there really varying degrees of persecution?

I lay this at Triplet's feet. I am ambivalent about what he's done to this place. I know it's very upsetting to some people. The problem with 3D's outlook is that ultimately, there's nothing about life that in the final analyis is a laughing matter. At the end of the day, life isn't funny.

AU contraire. At the end of the day the things that are important about life all make me smile.

Once again the whack job fringe of the gay rights movement is doing their best to set their own cause back 10 years. One of the biggest liabilities that movement has is their inability to reign those folks in during times like these. Spray painting and breaking windows etc... are all things that will turn moderate folks against them.

I do think that boycotts of those who contributed to the cause, however poorly reasoned, are within the realm of acceptable behavior.

Testify, gibbon.

Suck the marrow out of bones, my friends. Life is too short and there is too much out there to enjoy.
