Heads just exploded in Aggieland

With the 'sips getting a huge $300 million deal to show women's golf on its own Longhorn/ESPN network (presumably "the nueve"). So here's the question: does this deal impact the probability of 1) Big 12 expanding to include BYU, 2) Big 12 completely disintegrating. All of the other schools in the Big 12 have been far behind Texas financially. This just makes the playing field even less level. Which will make the fans of those schools very upset. It's hard to imagine, right now, how this plays out to BYU's benefit. Even if the conference blows up, I think the most attractive members would find homes in existing BCS conferences, even Kansas. Brothers, all we can do is pray and have faith. |

But now Texas can stay in the Big 12 without having to move. They dominate the conference for most purposes, have their own additional tv revenue and still get stuff from conference. What more could they want?

I think this would help BYU (ie. expand back to 12).
Texas won't go independent. With all the scheduling and other headaches brought on by independence, Texas is getting the best of both worlds. Maybe this will get Notre Dame into the Big Ten or Big East, in a wierd turn of events yet to be seen/understood. |
