Obviously police and the FBI need to do a better job. If some of the new information coming out about police not going in during the firing, and the old information of the FBI not referring it to Miami, and the school ignoring complaints about the man, then they have some explaining to do.

New schools should be constructed with the current realities in mind. Many of the old schools had bomb shelters when we feared nuclear annihilation from Soviets.

Metal detectors may become common place in schools. Why these evil people commit these heinous crimes needs to be understood to prevent them.

Making schools less of a soft target is important.

But there will always be soft targets for those 1 in 10 million persons who is hellbent on mass murder.

Trump is going in on gun control. That's how you know it's the wrong move.

He has also switched on tariffs. He is so mercurial and unreliable.

When did he switch that? He's been consistently in favor of protectionism, really since the 1980s. I just see it as him pushing harder this week where so far his advisers have held him back on that issue. But yes, he's often all over the map on things. This isn't really one of those though. But it's a terrible idea.

Conservatives -- including House Speaker Paul Ryan -- are striking back after President Donald Trump announced last week he planned to raise tariffs on aluminum and steel coming into the US.

"We are extremely worried about the consequences of a trade war and are urging the White House to not advance with this plan," Ryan spokeswoman AshLee Strong said in a statement Monday morning. "The new tax reform law has boosted the economy and we certainly don't want to jeopardize those gains."
Asked about Ryan's comments, Trump told reporters Monday, "No, we're not backing down."
