Coincidence that Rush was inducted on 12/11/12? I think not.

(yes, I know there's an extra "1" in there but close enough, lurkers)

They deserve to be in. However they also deserved to be mocked because they are Canadian.

And by that I mean mocking Rush on Facebook right now is a great way to tweak Canadians.

Rumor has it that Metallica will induct Rush. That means they will jam together. That means I will attend.

LOL.

I never got into Metallica. Had a buddy who worshipped them in high school. But they have their place in history too.

I guess if you are going to argue that Rush is a seminally important band, one question is what bands did they spawn in terms of their influence?

I just googled the question, and some are saying Metallica. Sorry, I don't really see that.

Some are saying Dream Theater. Never listened to them.

But if they are one and done band, that's fine.

I'm kind of envious of your love of this band. I don't have a single band I care about that way.

I am not sure rush--the band--influenced too many bands.

That said, Geddy Lee influenced every bass player worth a damn

There are very few drummers who won't acknowledge Peart is the greatest rock drummer of all time (I disagree, actually...Keith Moon was the best).

Alex Lifeson's incluence has been less, for sure, but Kirk of Metallica, for one, credits him as one of his most important influences.

Look, I can't listen to a single song from Rush after Power Windows (and barely that) until Counterparts but these guys are incredible musicians and I appreciate their virtuosity, and that they have truly each mastered their respective crafts.

I am in between. I enjoyed Rush but did not worship Rush. I enjoy Geddy Lee's distinctive voice and bass.

Rush is uncool, but that's ok.
