Default Holder: I want an Assault Weapons ban!

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=6960824&page=1

This time, not in the guise of "saving the children," but to save Mexico.

Is Holder coming out and talking about the recent govt. report that 80% of serious crime is committed by gangs? No. He's maneuvering against gun owners.

This is absolute bullshit. And frankly, this means war.

America's lax gun laws are fueling the drug wars in Mexico. Mexico must stop the drug flow, and America must stop the gun flow. And just like we fight drugs by criminalizing them, we should do the same with dangerous weapons. They are the two principal players in the drug wars, and we have to eliminate both.

Is the USA responsible for the drug war in Columbia as well?

Such bullshit.

Check going to the NRA today.

Good for Holder. Given that automatic weapons aren't constitutionally protected, this should have happened a long time ago.

Do you even know what "automatic" means?

Actually, Holder must be getting a kickback from the arms industry, because it has already been super-crazy, and now the run on guns, magazines, and ammo is only going to get worse (if possible).

Gun stores empty, gun shows with crazy prices, walmart with bare shelves of ammo, 6 month waiting lists on AR-15s, high-cap magazines out of stock all over the country. It's a bonanza for the arms companies.

Not to mention expansion of war in Afghanistan.

My check went to the NRA yesterday. I thought either this kind of gun control or the Fairness Doctrine would be the straw that breaks the camel's back and there will be serious conflict in the US.

An AR15 is an automatic gun? so are semi-automatic guns ok?

so what would that mean to those who already own assault weapons or magazines with over a 10 round capacity?

So the mexicans won't be able to get assault weapons because it's against the law? What are you smoking? I guess the mexicans didn't know it was illegal to kill people or to sneak across our borders. Once they find out it is, that activity will stop as well?

During the last AWB, the guns and mags that were purchased before the ban were grandfathered in as legal, and became colloquially known as "pre-ban" guns. These guns instantly went up in value.

Now, because Cali is listening, and wants to know the regulations of every locale, not just the federal regulations, I should add that the Republik of Kalifornia has draconian anti-"Assault" Weapons laws on the books right now, such that possession in certain configurations is ILLEGAL. Mere possession of a gun that you may have bought 20 years ago.

I suspect that a future Assault Weapons Ban, if it passes, will be much more draconian than the last.
