The Chris Miles is terrible SLTrib article

Their title is "BYU basketball: Slow start not getting Miles down"

After leading the team in field goal percentage last year, Miles is just 2-for-6 in three games. He has grabbed eight rebounds and blocked one shot.

Here's the head-scratcher:

"I am frustrated pretty minimally," he said Monday. "The only area that I am not pleased [with] is my scoring. When I am in, I am going to get rebounds at both ends of the floor. I expected more shots to fall, just because during the summer I shot well."

Dude, you are the worst rebounding big man in the league. Shots ain't gonna fall. They never have. Real games <> practice games.

But here's the really hopeful part:

in Friday's 83-65 win over Hawaii when he committed two quick fouls and headed to the bench after three minutes, never to play again.

Coach Dave Rose confirmed Miles will start tonight when the Cougars take on the Southern University Jaguars at the Marriott Center (7 p.m., no TV), but it is evident that freshman Brandon Davies is closing on him fast, if not for the starting role, then for starter's minutes.

so he had his best game of the season after that.

But why is Miles so horrible on rebounds. I'd give almost anything to see him average a double double in a season.

Not strong, not fast, slow feet.

But most importantly he lacks the thing that all great rebounders have: unquenchable desire for the ball, and the will to fight like hell to get it.

No quick leap, that's for certain, but he blocks out adequately, yet he often fails to go after the ball after the block out. No tenacity to fight for the ball.

Davies should be fun in the future if he develops a post move.
