I think this is beyond ridiculous.

If the adoption is a private company, how can a court force it to serve patrons it doesn't want? Are there no other adoption services anywhere in that part of California?

I think under the same principle that I can't rent my house out and then prohibit blacks from renting.

I disagree with this as well. It's your house. If you decided you didn't want to rent to a specific group, you shouldn't be forced to do so. If you were never able to rent your house, it would be your fault. The courts don't need to step in and tell you what to do.

I have no problem with folks boycotting the adoption service. The guy only did it to himself by discrimination. It would have been better to let his business go down the tubes than to have the court force him to accept clients.

You really don't see the problem with this? Then you have the potential for white people excluding black people from all but the worst neighborhoods.

I believe that the owner of a property has the right to do whatever he wants to do with it.

Now, would I do it? Never. But if someone wants to do so, it's his right as the owner.

Restaurants are public facilities. Don't stretch things too far. You can smoke in your own house but not in a public restaurant.

On another note. The church has family services which handles adoptions, I think. Do they have to let gays use their services.

According to this article, what the company decided (i.e. the BYU grad) is that they would not allow anyone from California to participate, in order to prevent gays from being on their site, and therefore complied with their settlement agreement.

In other words, they chose not to allow anyone from California participate, lest they have to include gays.
