Justice and Mercy, him and her
In the spirit of DaVinci Code season, I'll throw this out.
This has been one of my favorite things to ponder on in the scriptures for a long time. Read the scriptures below, replacing justice with Heavenly Father and mercy with Heavenly Mother. Could there have been this kind of conversation in the preexistence? Son: I have seen the future of these people and I know their fate, if a special plan is not prepared to save them. I am willing to do this...in order for them to be saved. Father: I can not allow it. Mother: I couldn't allow it either until I was moved by the love and sacrifice of our Son. Doesn't that have power to sway you? Alma 34:15 And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance. Alma 42:15 And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about except an atonement should be made; therefore God himself atoneth for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of mercy, to appease the demands of justice, that God might be a perfect, just God, and a merciful God also. Alma 42:24 For behold, justice exerciseth all HIS demands, and also mercy claimeth all which is HER own; and thus, none but the truly penitent are saved. Is this the reason only married people can achieve the highest degree of celestial kingdom? Because all of us require attributes of the opposite gender to become perfect which we could never attain individually, and not as a couple acting as one? |

Interesting view. It kind of harks back to the Greek pantheon of gods, debating and infighting over the plight of man.

Yin and yang....Justice and mercy....
Would make allegorical sense. The yin and yang conclude, that a union of themselves, is the only way a medium could be established in the cosmos. This union would be their joining, and producing offspring, the offspring would be compromise, understanding..... I've always wanted to study why, and how, certain words receieved their feminine and masculine roots.... Last edited by fusnik11; 05-26-2006 at 05:07 PM. |
