I think business wise for Larry H it makes sense. he is directed his theatres towards families, which is what 90% of marketing gurus in Utah would do. If he is showing that movie then families are going to come in and see lots of homosexuals attending the movie and the parents of these sheltered kids will get upset and complain (i am sure this has already happened) So larry needs to think long term do i piss off the families and anti-gays that have been seeing my movies for years, or piss off the handful of homosexuals? You choose the families every time (except maybe in San Franscisco). So maybe he loses a Ford Focus to a gay couple, but i guarantee he sells plenty of mini vans because of his decision.
Business wise it makes sense, not that i agree or disagree with it, if i was his advisor i would have done the same thing.

Because those who have seen it and reported back indicated a large portion of the audience appeared to be gay.
I haven't seen it, nor will I.

I'd be fine if he kicked both movies (Hostel & Brokeback Mountain) out of his theater.

I can't believe people who think that "BBMountain" is harmful to society yet in the same breath can't wait to see "Hostel." I read the spoiler for both (http://www.themoviespoiler.com, since they're R I won't see them, but I can read the plot if that's okay) and can't believe people want to see such filth.
If I was forced to see a movie and was asked between the two which one would I pick....I choose BBMountain. I do. I would much rather see a story on forbidden love with one scene of TaTas then some (some have said) porn intro followed by scenes of VERY graphic violence (scene's of Achellies tendon's being sliced...etc). That being said, I haven't read anything either describing LHM's Moral High ground, I just heard he pulled the BBM. If it's because of morals, I would hope he would be consistent, but until I know otherwise, i won't judge. But i will stay away from both movies and wait until X-men 3 comes out thank you.

I really don't think he'll make any money showing that movie. It's a business decision, nothing more. Hostel, as horrible as that movie sounds, has a bigger target audience than BBM.
I hope it's just a business decision, but until I know otherwise, that's what it is to me. If we were, say, San Francisco...He would probably have that movie on every screen.

I really do not know for sure. all I can do is speculate, but my feeling is that lhm is making a moral stand. Just my feeling, and I may be wrong, but given his stance on the sabbath day several years back, it would not surprise me.
You know what they say about assuming, I guess I am an ass. |

let's not look at it from a speculative standpoint though...
1. there is a higher homosexual % in downtown SL: Fact 2. Sandy is the antithesis of SL: Fact The tower continues to sell out its showings Jordon Commons wouldn't have many people in the theater most nights (my speculation ) It's a good business decision, nothing more. and I'm the ass, always have been, always will.
