Of overcharges and resets
This episode is fascinating to me. How in the hell did the State Department get the translation of "reset" wrong? Idiots, and Clinton has been drastically ill served by her people. But, what is Clinton doing with this hokey red button anyway? This isn't a reopening of a damn Staples store. This is the relationship of the former Cold War enemies we're talking about. A stupid, misconceived prop.
But I think Hillary handled the situation well, with humor and grace. Oh, and I would love to be a fly on the wall when Clinton confronts the person who "worked so hard" but got the translation wrong all the same. Firing that person would be one of my easiest decisions as Secretary of State. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0309/19719.html

Just imagine the laugh, Russians would have received, if the foreign minister had not caught Clinton out of diplomatic courtesy.

yeah, Clinton doesn't seem like the forgiving type of boss. "Oh, gee, does that memo say you're getting a raise? My mistake, it's supposed to say you're fired. And to think I worked so hard on that one, too!"

It's not like you can't find somebody to speak Russian. If it had been some obtuse Bantu dialect or something, one might be a bit more forgiving. I think that translator didn't pass his or her translator's class.
