Even starting a race in that kind of heat is crazy. No matter how long I had trained, I would have pulled the plug before I even left the hotel.

I don't think it will be fair to blame the organizers for this. The decision to shut it down was totally correct. From what I've read, the worst part was the overwhelming number of runners still left on the course after they had shut it down.
