Default More prostitute stuff

I usually try to avoid talking about or chiming in on threads involving economics (something about worlds colliding) but Steven Levitt's recent paper, "An Empirical Analysis of Street Level Prostitution" is a pretty interesting paper and it timely given the Sptizer stuff:

Tables 5 and 6 are quite interesting and suppose useful to some.

3% of non-pimp associationed prostitute tricks are freebies to police in exchange for not being arrested.

Ya, they do mention that in the paper but it is mainly an interesting factoid of the data rather than part of the overall analysis.

I got it from the paper. Don't have time to read the whole thing now.

I think probably the most striking result is such as small premium for unprotected sex: $2 more. That result is, of course, plagued by endogeneity problems so you really have to believe that the empirical design adequately accounts for the issue (prostitute fixed effects which in my view should work pretty well in this situation). However, that is small-time compensation for engaging in much riskier behavior. Some of the small premium seems to come from the manual and oral categories. If you look at the anal category then the premium is $12.
