Peterson says apologetics are necessary, even quoting Neal A. Maxwell that critics should not be allowed any "uncontested slam dunks."

Who thinks the 12 know "everything" there is to know? Yikes.

Anyone here think that? Yet Peterson is trying to dispute this and change people's minds.

Some excellent advice in that article, some of it quite pertinent to discussions on CG.

Quote:
"And it comes from the spirit," Peterson said. "It doesn't come from FAIR arguments, or from Maxwell Institute arguments or anything like that. It comes from the spirit."
Quote:
"We will not argue people into the church," he said. "They will not come into the church ... because of our eloquence or the evidence that we can amass in something."
Quote:
But still, Peterson worries about the tone of discussions on Internet message boards. They are like boxing rings and are dominated too much by men. "There's a lot of, dare I say, a lot of testosterone involved with this kind of apologetics," he said.
Quote:
"We are winning souls, we hope -- not so much arguments," he said. "Winning an argument can lose you a soul."

I liked the article. It's nice to see this side of his personality. He's like the rest of us--he has a good heart & intentions, but his baser instincts get the best of him sometimes.

He's like the rest of us. He has found the best way available to earn a living in his field.

So how much do you pay to interact with him on the Internet?

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.
