Default Name your top 5 BYU football moments

How many of them are regular season and how many are bowl?

I wasn't a fan until late 80's. Mine:

1. Miami win
2. Kansas State Cotton Bowl
3. Notre Dame win at Notre Dame
4. '96 win over A&M
5. Utah win in 2001

Only one was a bowl, three were OOC regular season games. We're missing a lot if we continue with this shitty scheduling strategy.

1. BYU vs Michigan 1984 (a national title is better than beating some #1 team in September)

2. BYU vs Miami 1990

3. BYU vs Kansas State 1996

4. BYU vs Utah 2000 (send LaVell out with a victory in very improbable fashion)

5. BYU vs Utah 2006

Forgot the last two Utah games, Utah 2006 definitely in there.

Another element is that I weight games more that I attend in person. That's why I had the 2001 Utah over the 2006 Utah, though that was a spectacular finish. And the '96 TA&M game ranks very closely with the K-State Cotton Bowl. Maybe that's why I'm so much in favor of a tougher schedule because I enjoy a game I attend so much more than on TV.

Honorable Mention to SMU 1980, even though I didn't get to see it until March when the video tape came in the mail to our house in Saudi Arabia.

Miami '90
Michigan '84
SMU '80
Kansas St '96
Colorado '88 or UCLA '08(maybe just because it's fresh and we didn't know how bad UCLA was at the time)

Apparently beating a #1 team in September is better than a January Bowl win though...

It's the only win BYU has against team ranked #1 at the time the game was played; and unlike the 1984 Pitt game, they actually turned out to be a legit team, finishing 3rd in the polls that year.

Was that the game where Detmer led TD drives on every possession in the first half? Or was that Detmer's soph season?

IIRC, they took the utes to the woodshed all three years Detmer started so I get confused as to which beating was which.
