According to Jay Drew's blog..

The coach elaborated on defensive back G Pittman's decision to transfer, saying he met with the redshirt freshman at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
"He had been on academic suspension the last four weeks. Everyone has to make their choices whether they really want and value an education, and our willing to meet the standards we have here. I think G is [eager] to look elsewhere, and I support him," he said.
Mendenhall said because Pittman is not in good academic standing, he cannot transfer to another Division I institution and will more than likely have to go to a junior college first.
