They were really fortunate that most of the Senate seats up for election this year were already held by Democrats. There are 23 current seats where Democrats are leading to 9 where Republicans are leading.

Any other Senate election cycle would have spelled disaster for Republicans right now. As is, they still may lose the Senate.

I don't know. Every election since '94, the Dems are saying "this is our year" and it never happens because they do or say stupid things. Well, Kerry pretty much opened his mouth and may have ticked off all the folks in the military - a rather significant voter block - and it could also get the conservatives who may have decided that voting wouldn't do much good because the Dems (again) have this election locked up.

I agree that the Dems could take over and that the Repubs are lucky that so many seats up for grabs are already occupied by Dems; but until the vote counts are in, I wouldn't be celebrating a victory if I was a Democrat (like that would ever be true ) until the final vote count is in.

I tend to agree with this.

Anyone notice that Nancy Pelosi is MIA? If it's an intentional move by the Dems to not let her near a microphone, then it's a smart move.
